Acing Out The Competition: Girls Varsity Volleyball

by Bobbie Floyd 10-23-13

"When we came back with a win in Pahrump, I knew there was no looking back,"

said Coach Silver, Girls Varsity Head Coach.

In Pahrump the girls varsity team went on a record of 4-2. They ended up getting second place in the Pahrump Valley Invitational. To earn that title, they had to defeat their top competitors, the Pahrump Valley Trojans.

Girls’ varsity captain June Roberts, said, “This is my senior year and I

want to win state. I know my team is good enough to make it all the way and

bring home a win.”

After having a depressing season opening loss against the Cheyenne Desert

Shields, the fighting Clark Chargers are ready for the comeback.

Emi Atanoa said, "The first season game we played sucked really bad. We didn't come ready to play and it cost us the game."

Watching girls’ volleyball isn't boring. The stands get into it as well as the coaches and teachers.

It’s only 3 dollars to watch and be a part of the action. One can ask any

volleyball player when the next game is and can be amazed.

Last year the volleyball team made it to playoffs, but lost an upsetting game against Moapa Valley.

Senior Victoria Gordon said, "The worst thing was losing to Moapa Valley. I knew we were better than the loss and it made us look bad. It was

our first playoff visit and ending with a loss hurt really badly."

The Lady Charger Volleyball team wasn't letting that happen again. They are determined to bring home the state title.

One can also check out the freshman and JV teams. Clark’s freshman

team is 5-1. They started off undefeated.

"Our goal is to win state," said Coach Silver.

Diving, weight vests and miles under 8 minutes. One has to be hard-working and dedicated in order to be on the girls’ volleyball team. The Clark Chargers’ volleyball girls are hungry for the season.
