It’s that time of year Chargers, posters are filling our hallways, backpacks and pierced with pins, and signs are floating about our lunches. Since hearing their speeches in the crowded, loud cafeteria is not easy, I sat down with each of the candidates as they share to me, what they hope to share to you.

Presidential Candidate;

Johanna Iglesias

“I would like to incorporate new school traditions like more activities during lunch and try things out and see how they work and basically just keep old school traditions like Chargertastic but make them better. I also want to make the student body more involved; we’re planning on having more ways of people voting, for example, instead of just having spirit days thrown at [them], and we already have an app for that.

I want the student body to be more involved in events, and I also want to work on getting them noticed. I like to think I’m very friendly and I love interacting with the student body. I just want everyone to not be afraid to talk to me, which is what I was saying as I was campaigning. Even though I’m running unopposed if I didn’t campaign no one would know who I was; I just want as many people to know me by first name basis. That way I know that if any one has any concerns they can ask me and I’ll make sure to help in any way I can.

Go Clark!

1st Vice President Candidate;

Ryan Lemon

“I’m hoping to continue what Ryan Lim has started with clubs and organizations, like having more ice breakers during the meetings and allowing more chances to interact with other clubs, instead of just being very structured and dictated. I want to make the clubs and organizations more unified and to also get to know and interact with all the club presidents and advisors. I would like to bring these clubs and people together, and make it more unified.

I like to get along with a lot of people and I like seeing a community working together for one goal. I know it will be different from being class president now but I think that I can devote myself more to this position, with my time management and schedule if I run for 1st vice.

Don’t be sour; vote Ryan Lemon for 1st vice president!

2nd Vice President Candidate;

Estefany Gonzalez

“We’re changing it up next year, instead of this position being in charge of assemblies and activities; I’ll be dealing with assemblies and athletics. Since the student body always has something to say, I’m gonna try to get their input and try to incorporate everything [they say] into the assemblies, which I hope will make them better. As for athletics, I really want to stress the importance of senior nights, and make them bigger, since they’re the ones earning a lot of pride for our school, and since it’s their senior year I want to make sure they remember their last Clark home game.

I really want to be involved, I’m really spirited and I’m always at activities, I always put time and effort into everything I do, so that’s why I feel like I’m very qualified for this position. I’m also a very organized and creative person.

If you’re wondering who to vote for vote Estefany for 2nd vice!

Secretary Candidates;

Angela Terencio

“Communication between council and the student body is important and I want to improve that by getting them more involved by reaching out to every student, since we’re the student council and they’re the student body they should be involved in the decisions made.

I’m really dedicated to student council, and the student body itself, and I want to make sure everyone has a voice, and it heard, taking into account that of course everyone won’t be satisfied. But I’ll try my best!

Smile to succeed!

Chelsey Noorda

“I really want to involve the whole student body and to find out what they want to change because it’s cool that we make decisions but I really want to get them involved. That’s what the student council is supposed to do, and I want to make sure that everyone is heard in the student body. I want everyone to be more involved in the decision making and I want to excite them and have them know they’re being heard.

I’m running for secretary and I love doing secretary work; I love taking notes, and knowing what’s going on. With that in mind I want to improve the communication between the people.

I’m Cooperative, a Leader, Accurate, Responsible, and Knowledgeable!

Treasurer Candidates;

Sam Tao

“My plans for next year are to reduce prices as low as we can, for, say, grad night, and to start fundraising and earning money. I want to make as many activities as we can do to try to get the prices down, since high schoolers don’t always have the money for the stuff offered and I want them to at least have the opportunities to be involved.

My technology knowledge can help me organize the accounts and money a lot easier and since I’m in AOF, I can incorporate what I’ve learned about handling money into the student body’s treasury.

With the help of Sam, our money will be soaring!

Alyssa Amata

“I want to gain money through new Charger gear like cardigans, socks, and hats and to make the charger warehouse open at all times. To have more stable funds for annual class trips, generate more fundraisers like bringing in chipotle and honeybaked ham. I also want more fun events like a winter splash during home games and a friendly “Olympic competitions” of classes. I want to instigate these through more communication with the student body, so they actually know what I’m planning on doing with our money.

I am an Ambitious Leader who you can count on to Serve the Students All the time. I’ve been a treasurer during middle school and this junior year. I’me organized, trustworthy, and easy to talk to.

A-L-Y-S-S-A. Alyssa Amata for a Change that Counts!

Senator Candidates;

Darian Gambetta

“There are five spots for senator, like historian, parliamentary, web master, back up secretary, and philanthropist. The one I want to be is the parliamentarian, who basically takes care of all the rules and at the meeting makes sure that everyone’s on top of it. I want to go over the constitution and fix some areas, for example, in the election packets, I believe there are some parts that doesn’t fit with our student council constitution and I want to fix that.

I feel I have very good leadership skills and I’ve been in student council since sixth grade, so I definitely have experience and how it works and what needs to happen to have it work efficiently.

Free the house elves! Vote Darian.

Genesis Trejo

“I’m running for philanthropist, I want to be in charge of volunteer work and community service. I want to create more opportunities for students who want to help the community and want to be able to do volunteer work but can’t find them on their own.

I feel I’m qualified for this position because I’m responsible and service is basically my life. I’m in National Honor Society and I want to incorporate my experience with community service into my position. As I’ve gone through high school, I feel like I’m more outgoing and I can get more people involved and excited about service.

My aspiration can make a change for Charger Nation!

Marleni Arias

“I’m running for the senator position of historian, and basically, what I would do if I win is I would go to all the events and take pictures. Since I’m running exec I can help the lower class senators and keep them focused and really help them grow in student council. And since I’m running for historian, I think it’ll be easier for me since going to the events is no problem and taking pictures would be fine.

Vote for me. I’ll try my best!
