Not a Goodbye, Just a See You Later

By Bobbi Floyd 6-3-14

As the days are getting shorter and the weather gets hotter, it’s time to get your goodbyes out. Whether it be to your favorite teacher or to the random student who screams your name in the hallway (yet you have no idea who they are), it’s time to clean out your lockers and disperse the halls of Clark High School.

Yes, it was a time well spent.

Saying goodbye to a place like Clark is like jumping off the edge of a building. You never know where you’re going to end up (whether it is dead or alive) but you know that something is going to happen. Leaving Clark is opening new doors to your lives.

“I was an immature freshman when I first walked into Clark. I thought I was in charge,” says Alula Geberslassie. “As the 4 years progressed, I grounded myself… I set my place at Clark.”

No, not every memory at Clark is it will live in one person’s life forever.

“As a freshman year loser (not that I’m a loser anymore) I was walking and I got hit in in the head by a soccer goalpost,” says Tyler Barrow. “I might be scarred for life, but I will never forget the day. It happened at my home…Clark High School.

Growing up between the walls of Clark High School, you were able to see the changes that came amongst. From the placement and removal of “Portable City” to the new and improved 300 hallway—Clark (as well as a few of us) matured into a new home and piece of artwork.

As years flew by, we said our hellos and goodbyes. New birds were joined the family and some birds fled to the coop. Welcoming new people such as Ms. Thaggard and our new 2015 counselors, Clark was a family to all. As well welcomed new family, we are letting go of our very own. Coach Silver and Mr. Kilmer will not be with us next year but they will always a part of the charger family.

“I have been at this school for a long time. It grew on me, it will always be my home,” says Silver. “Everyone knows me as the lady why can scream for hours and will make you run in the heat during volleyball season (which are both true.)

Just because the goodbyes are in place, a new set of doors are opening for our 2014 seniors. As freshman become sophomores, sophomores become juniors and juniors become seniors, they will always have a place at home at Clark. So seniors, spread your wings and fly away, just avoid the windshields of SUV’s and getting electrocuted on telephone poles.

Once a Clark Charger, Always a Clark Charger.

a little more about you.
