Mission Complete: An Amazing School Year at Clark
By Melissa Patrick 6-3-14
I think we can all agree that this school year here at Clark has been great. Our sports teams have all done amazing, key club, K.E.E.N. and H.O.S.A. have all been helpful and successful around the community, student council has done an amazing job in the hallways and the dances, and lastly the assemblies have all been pretty rad. Here are a few of Clark’s 2013-2014 school year events.
This year, basketball made it to state and brought home a win which, by the way, has not been done in a while. A handful of Clark teams have made it to the playoffs including Boys and Girls volleyball, football, and tennis.
According to the Boy’s and Girls’ volleyball coach, Ms. Silver, being so close with each team is disappointing but they tried their best and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.
Prom was a success as well this year. Many seniors and juniors suited up and glamorized for the big dance and had a fun night of dancing and partying.
The sped dance this year was fun for both the special Ed kids and the students volunteering as well. Key club and student council joined up to insure a fun time for everyone.
There was a DJ spinning some hot beats (just kidding), a huge table full of food (let me just tell you, it was really good food), and people having a good time with their friends. It was a great event here at Clark.
According key club president, Anna Zhang, the dance was a huge success.
As another year passed at Clark, so did another blood drive— as a matter of fact, there were two drives. A lot of students came to donate their blood in the auxiliary gym as well snack on their post-donation treats. If you donated blood, I think you would agree that the snacks were well needed. Sadly though, the only way you could have donated blood was if you were eighteen— bummer.
T.E.A.C.H hosted a pre-camp this year at Clark filling some of the halls with adorable little kids walking in a row like little ducks— it was incredibly adorable.
Let’s dampen the mood with even sadder news that melted ice cream: Mr. Kilmer telling the theater kids goodbye. It’s true; he’s packing up his costumes and his scripts and heading to Las Vegas Academy of Visual and Performing Arts to enlighten other kids with his strategic theater teaching skills.
He has taken up the task to help jumpstart a new music theater program.
According to Kilmer musical theater is his first love and being able to teach children who want to have that as a profession is amazing.
If you don’t know Silver, the physical education teacher and the volleyball coach, I bet you haven’t shown up for school a lot. Silver, despite some of your opinions, is a very nice person who is always there to help, and a really good coach.
Silver has attended Clark since her sophomore year.
“I’ll miss the fun I had with my co- workers, the crazy things we used to do, all of my lovely students, and all of the stress,” said silver.
Last but not least, the Aloha Assembly. I will not get into detail about this but all you need to know is there was a lot of crying.
If you’ve missed any of the events that you think you might have fancied reading, they are all annual and will happen next school year.
